Description
Mutant, in partnership with Back Lot Music and Focus Features, present Bobby Krlic’s score for Anemone, the debut feature from writer-director Ronan Day-Lewis. The film is an intimate psychological drama centred on a family struggling to reconnect in the aftermath of emotional collapse, marking Daniel Day-Lewis’ return to the screen.
Krlic’s music plays a central role in shaping the film’s atmosphere. Swells of distorted melody and slow-moving textures drift and crash like waves, blurring the line between tenderness and unease. Drawing on shoegaze-leaning sonics and orchestral weight, the score amplifies the film’s raw performances and surreal imagery without overwhelming them, creating a sense of emotional pressure that lingers long after the screen cuts to black.
Direct, unguarded and deeply felt, the music functions as an internal monologue for the film itself equal parts restraint and release. The release also features liner notes by Ronan Day-Lewis, offering further insight into the collaboration and creative intent behind the score.
