Recorded at Real World Studios, the 13-track collection sees pianist Chris Illingworth and bassist Nick Blacka exploring a more expansive electronic palette, utilizing synths and glitchy textures to augment their signature acoustic interplay. From the gently euphoric, polyrhythmic patterns of “Glimmerings” to the Aphex Twin-inspired “bouncing ball” bass effects on “Soon Comes Night,” the record maintains the band’s cinematic DNA while leaning into a softer, more empathic vulnerability.
