Exciting times await, as the Velvet Underground’s all-round founding superstar and in-his-own-right legend John Cale gears up to release his eigteenth full-length studio album, POPtical Illusion. The follow-up to 2023’s highly collaborative album Mercy, POPtical Illusion hears a return to solo songwriting and performance and was produced by Cale along with his manager Nita Scott in his LA studio. The album is led by the oddball indie electronica ballad ‘How We See The Light’, which is indicative of its overall sound and message; bright pop belters in retrograde, amid lyrical musings on wasted times, lost futures and corporate climbs.
